Integrating Theory and Practice into Language and Culture Learning in the Context of Study Abroad

The field of international education has developed immensely in the past decades by improving the ways in which theory and practice guide our work. The new Maximizing Study Abroad for Language and Culture Learning and Use Instructional Guide, one model of integrating theory and practice, will be the basis of this talk. Come learn about this Guide, how it is a resource for language instructors and program professionals, what theory is included, and the more than 100 activities included.
Presenter: Barbara Kappler Mikk, co-author of the Instructional Guide, is an Assistant Director at the International Student & Scholar Services office where she is responsible for intercultural training programs.
